Does all tissue paper bleed when it gets wet?
NO! I learned this the hard way a few years ago and kids were SO sad. Don’t be me! Get official bleeding tissue paper so that your art experience can be a success! Don’t just use the tissue paper leftover from gifting.

Instructions for making Snowflake Bleeding Tissue Paper Art
1. Start by cutting a coffee filter into a snowflake. Just fold the coffee filter into thirds and snip the edges. You can watch a quick video for how to do that here.
2. Next, give your child some bleeding tissue paper, a paint brush, and a cup of water. I like to do this activity on a craft tray to contain the mess!

3. Have your child paint water onto a section of the snowflake, then stick the tissue paper onto the water covered area and paint a little bit more water on top of the tissue.
4. Repeat this process until you have covered as much of the snowflake as you want to cover with colored tissue paper.
5. Next you’ll need to let the coffee filter and tissue paper dry.
6. After the filters dry, pull off the colored tissue paper to reveal a beautiful colorful snowflake underneath!
You can hang the dried snowflakes in front of a window and see how the color and light come through to make them beautiful sun catchers.
How does bleeding tissue work?
Bleeding tissue paper is filled with a high concentration of dye, so when water touches the tissue, the colored dye bleeds out of the tissue paper. The special paper is designed dyes that easily dissolve when they get wet.
There are so many creative ways you can use bleeding tissue paper for art!
